Tory Bruno Joins Blue Origin to Lead New National Security Group
In a significant shift in the U.S. space industry, Blue Origin announced on December 26, 2025, that Tory Bruno, the former longtime CEO of United Launch Alliance (ULA), has joined the company as President of National Security. Bruno will report directly to CEO Dave Limp and spearhead Blue Origin's newly formed National Security Group.
The move comes just days after Bruno stepped down from ULA, a Boeing-Lockheed Martin joint venture, where he served as President and CEO for over a decade. Under his leadership, ULA successfully transitioned to the Vulcan Centaur rocket—powered by Blue Origin's BE-4 engines—and secured certification for national security launches.Blue Origin CEO Dave Limp welcomed Bruno, stating the two share a "deep belief in supporting our nation with the best technology we can build." Limp highlighted Bruno's "unmatched experience" in accelerating the company's national security missions.Bruno's expertise in government contracts and high-reliability launches positions Blue Origin to strengthen its bid for U.S. Department of Defense and Space Force payloads. The company, founded by Jeff Bezos, recently gained eligibility for the most demanding national security space launches alongside ULA and SpaceX.This hire signals Blue Origin's aggressive push into the lucrative national security market as competition intensifies in the orbital launch sector.
